Face Everything and Rise (F.E.A.R.)

Face Everything and Rise (F.E.A.R.)

Recently, I was asked to provide some health inspiration to my son's elementary school’s staff before their reopening since the pandemic. As I put my thoughts together, it came to me: Face Everything And Rise.

Below is what I shared with the incredible staff…I share it with you in the hopes I inspire you to find fortitude, discipline, the power of a morning routine, and joy.

Fortitude vs. Fear

In this uncertain time, we can all use more peace and time to be still to help us face what's in front of us. The road is unclear and we have a choice each day to choose fear or fortitude.

The opposite of fear is Fortitude. The virtue of fortitude enables us to conquer fear and face trials. I like to use the acronym for F.E.A.R. (FACE EVERYTHING AND RISE). So how do we do this?

Author T. Harv Eker states, “How you do anything is how you do everything. “

Discipline

With strong action, discipline.

Talking and knowing are not enough.

I like to reference the book Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod, he states, “when you choose to do the right thing and follow through with your commitments especially when you don’t feel like it, you are developing the extraordinary discipline necessary for creating extraordinary results in our life.” (Hal Elrod, Miracle Morning).

As teachers, you know discipline is key, you teach your children to have discipline with their studies, however, sharing this knowledge is not enough we must model it in action.

In my practice, I reference a circle graph that contains the essentials to creating a disciplined life so we can face everything and rise, and turn trials into Triumph. As you see in this circle there are many key aspects to a balanced life. Today I’m addressing two: spiritual practice and positive thinking.

Miracle Morning

To instill these practices in your life we must start with a clear morning routine filled with intention and discipline. Begin the day by:

  • Simply stating “Today will be a great day!”

  • Meditate/pray

  • Make a gratitude list

  • Breathe

  • Exercise

You may already know that morning routine matters. Research proves it’s the time our mind is the clearest and fluid to make decisions, most importantly, it sets the tone for the day. Remember, even pushing snooze sets the tone for the day.

You may ask, does a morning routine make a difference? I can testify and personally have seen it in action. Not only with myself, but in my clients, my husband, successful CEOs, etc…

Positive Thinking

Action matters, positive thinking comes from clear actions and training to change your thinking. I promise you that if you establish a morning routine you will find yourself craving it each morning and your body jumping out of bed to begin your “Miracle Morning.”

“Now matters more than any other time in your life, because it’s what you are doing today that is determining who you’re becoming, and who you’re becoming will always determine the quality and direction of your life”. (Miracle Morning, Hal Elrod)

My Hope

My hope for you as leaders and guiders of our children that you can establish a clear discipline each morning and bring to the classroom each day a sense of peace for yourself and your students. That each day the students leave remembering your actions, words, and your heart… they witness your ability to Face Everything and Rise.

I strongly believe pressure is a privilege, know I pray for every one of you daily, and ask that you are filled with GRACE and PEACE.

I leave you with this quote by:

Ralph Waldo Emerson

He said, write it on our heart that every day is the best day of the year. He is rich who owns the day, no one owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety. Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit. To be cumbered with your old nonsense. This new day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on yesterdays.

Thank you!
