Frequently asked questions

  • What is intermittent fasting (IF), and why does it matter?

    • Intermittent fasting is an eating schedule, not a diet. Your body is always in one of two states: fed or fasted. In the fed state your body is digesting food making it hard to burn fat. In the fasted state, 8-12 hours after your body finishes digesting, you are able to reach into your fat stores. People rarely go into a fasted state throughout the day. In fact, the traditional theory of several small meals per day keeps us from ever reaching the fasted state. So, while eating several small meals per day can lead to weight loss (calorie deficits. always do), you will likely be losing both muscle and fat. When you lose calorie burning . muscle, you lower your metabolic rate and make it harder for your body to burn fat. You also might become frustrated because you never feel toned and fit, even though you are working out and eating clean.

  • Can I drink alcohol during the program?

    • Short answer is YES. However, keep in mind that it takes 10 hours to burn off the alcohol in a standard drink. This means your body must metabolize the alcohol before burning fat, carbs, or protein. try to minimize alcohol so that you burn fat faster and easier.

  • Can I Drink Coffee while fasting?

    • Yes! Black coffee with stevia (only stevia!) will not break your fast. you can even use mCT oil while fasting since it does not lead to an insulin response (i.E., no increase in your blood sugar).
